Conditions and Restrictions of the Mobility Allowance
Conditions
-
You must be an unemployed jobseeker before the start of the job or training.
- You must have received unemployment allowance immediately before the start of your employment or related training.
- You move to another locality for employment or related training.
- Your daily commute takes at least three hours in full-time work and at least two hours in part-time work. The travel time is calculated as the total round trip. When using public transport, transfer and waiting times are included. When driving your own car, only the actual driving time is counted.
Restrictions
- You can only receive a mobility allowance for one job or training at a time.
- You cannot apply for the allowance for two part-time jobs simultaneously.
- The duration of the allowance is determined based on the information available at the start of the employment or training.
In these cases you are not eligible for a mobility allowance
- You have been laid off or your situation is comparable to a layoff.
- You are absent from work for personal reasons or on unpaid leave.
- You are receiving another benefit that prevents you from receiving the earnings-related allowance, such as sickness allowance or salary for the period of notice.
What if your situation changes?
- If the job continues longer than agreed, the duration of the mobility allowance will not change.
- If the job ends earlier than planned, the allowance is paid only until the end of the employment.
- If the employment lasts less than two months, the allowance already paid is usually reclaimed.
- You may still receive the mobility allowance even if you move closer to your workplace after starting the job, provided that the other conditions mentioned above are met.
A waiting period imposed by the employment authorities, the qualifying period for unemployment allowance, or the fact that the employment condition is not met do not, however, prevent the payment of the mobility allowance.
